Would you let us know where the cameras are working? The one at Biddle and McAndrews roads isn’t working, for sure. I made a right on McAndrews on a green light, and a woman ran a red light from Biddle to McAndrews and came right at me. I almost got hit, plus she honked at me like I was in the wrong. — Richard G., Medford Don’t you just love people who are so wrong but think they’re right? We checked in with Medford police Sgt. Don Lane, who told us there are only two intersections that have red-light cameras. He said the other signs you see posted as you drive into the city are to alert motorists that the city uses red lights. This posting near the city limits is required by state law, he said. You’re right, Richard, the intersection at Biddle and McAndrews does have red-light cameras, but the cameras are only located on two approaches, northbound on Biddle and eastbound on McAndrews. Since you didn’t specify which direction the offending vehicle was coming from, we can’t say whether it had a red-light camera in that direction. The other intersection is at Barnett Road and Stewart Avenue. Similarly, the red light cameras are positioned to capture vehicles in only two directions, northbound on Stewart and westbound on Barnett. Lane said police are reviewing intersections in the city to determine whether installing more red-light cameras is justified as a way to make the intersections safer.
