Mail Tribune 100, Dec. 5, 1922 By Alissa Corman Dec 05, 2022 12:00 AM A A News from 100 years ago The following news items were drawn from the archives of the Mail Tribune 100 years ago Dec. 5, 1922 FOOTBALL CELEBRATION PAVILION TOMORROW Football fans are showing keen interest in the big celebration at the Pavilion tomorrow night. The entire football squad and high school faculty have been invited as guests of the Pavilion management and every effort will be made to entertain them royally. Mike Jacobs, cheer leader of the M. H. S. will have charge of the high school yells, songs and stunts, thus assuring plenty of good old pep and enthusiasm. Launspach’s Pavilion orchestra will be out in force to provide all the popular new music for dancing. The crowning event of the evening will be the presentation of the Jackson County Amusement company to the victorious Medford team. TRANSPORTATION TO BE FORUM TOPIC “Modern Transportation” will be the subject of a talk to be made by Fred A. Williams, Associate Counsel of the Automotive Carriers’ Association of Oregon and the forum of the Medford Camber of Commerce on Wednesday noon at the Medford hotel. This being American Education Week, a few minutes will be devoted to the various phases of education, and citizens will be given an opportunity to learn the educational needs of their community, state and nation. DAIRY SPECIALIST HERE ON FRIDAY Mr. Jamison, specialist in dairying will discuss dairy feeding in meetings held Friday afternoon at the Ashland fair and Saturday afternoon, Dec. 9, in the Medford public library. Farmers from all over the county should take advantage of these specialist meetings as the important problems of the work are discussed in full. Breeding questions will be discussed in meetings held in February and judging at a meeting in April. LOCAL AND PERSONAL “Beauty Spots of Oregon,” a beautiful colored booklet containing many excellent photographic plates of scenic spots in the state has recently been issued bu the Multnomah hotel. The booklet featured Crater and Klamath lakes and the Oregon Marble Caves in southern Oregon. A colored plate of Crater Lake appears on the first page. ----- Radio fans again enjoyed a concert last night from Virgin’s broadcasting station K. F. A. Y. at the fair grounds. The program of popular music was presented by the Imperial orchestra and vocal selection were given by Herbert Alford and George T. Wilson.
