Raiders top Holy Names OAKLAND, Calif. -- Melissa England scored just four points for the Southern Oregon University women on Monday night, but her driving layup with three minutes to play broke a 63-63 tie and lifted the Raiders to a 71-68 victory over Holy Names. Sarah Petersen led SOU with 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field, while Lauren Mohan added 13 points and Tiwana Merritt 11. The Raiders, ranked No. 7 in the NAIA, improved to 6-3. "We reversed the ball to Melissa and then she drove the baseline and scored under some tough pressure," SOU coach Shirley Huyett said of the game's most important basket. Mohan followed with a layup of her own and then Monica Fisher sank two free throws to give the Raiders a little breathing room in the late going. However, free-throw shooting was not one of the Raiders' strengths Monday as they made just 12 of 23 attempts. "We barely made enough to win the game -- we were pathetic," Huyett said. Tyesha Hunter had 26 points and 13 rebounds for Holy Names.
