Tosh, a junior, and Steadman, a senior, each won in straight sets to pace the Panthers (1-2, 1-1 SWC), but it was the play in doubles that put South Medford over the top as it claimed three of the four matchups. “We’ve been anchored all season by our Nos. 1 and 2 singles and they’ve been consistently playing well,” said South Medford head coach Hal Borg. “Our doubles teams are almost entirely freshmen and sophomores so for them to win three out of four today is definitely a step in the right direction for us.” SINGLES — Kylar Tosh, SM, d. ASHLAND 8, NORTH MEDFORD 0 : At Ashland, Ashland had to pull out a pair of three-set doubles victories to preserve the nonconference shutout at Hunter Park. The Grizzlies’ No. 1 doubles team of David Lee and Will Duncan and No. 4 doubles of Henry Clark and Rob Stallman both lost the first set but rallied back.
