The seventh-ranked Vikings scored nine times during the first two innings and coasted to a 12-2 Skyline Conference victory over No. 9 North Valley on Tuesday. The game was called after six innings due to the 10-run mercy rule. During a four-run first, Mazama (11-3, 9-0 Skyline) banged out just two hits but took advantage of two North Valley errors. The Vikings scored five more times in the second inning and grabbed a 10-0 lead after three. Advertisement In all, the Knights committed nine errors while falling to 3-3 in the Skyline. Ariah Nead lasted just two innings and was tagged with the loss, while Mike Butcher picked up his third pitching win of the season after four innings of one-run ball. Neal Snell, Tyler Connor, Kyle Blank and Ryan McGraw each had two hits to lead the Vikings. Blank had three RBIs. The Pirates (8-5, 7-2 Skyline) scored in every inning against the Honkers (2-6 Skyline). Brady Rhodes went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Ian McPhee collected three RBIs in going 3-for-3 and Brett Ellis produced three RBIs and two runs for Phoenix. Ryan Kirk (2-0) picked up the pitching win. Girodat didn’t allow a hit through three innings of work before giving way to Frantz, who limited Illinois Valley (0-9 Skyline) to a fourth-inning double. Danny Hunter had three hits for Rogue River (2-5 Skyline), while Josh Hill, Girodat and Alejandro Figarella each added two.
