Cascade Christian shuts down Glendale GLENDALE - It took three quarters, but the Cascade Christian girls basketball team finally found a way to shut down Glendale. The Challengers used an 18-4 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter to seal a 51-36 nonconference win on Friday. "We finally figured out how to control their offense," said Cascade coach Loren King. "We managed to take away all their down-the-lane stuff, and the kids did a good job of dropping over and helping each other out on defense." Cascade Christian also held Keshia Causey scoreless in the fourth quarter after the point guard torched the Challengers for 16 in the previous three quarters. Laural Kelley led Cascade Christian with 13 points, while Kristin Salamone added 12. "Laural Kelley stepped up and played well for us," said King. "Salamone also did a good job on the boards." Hannah Gettman added nine points for the Challengers, who improved to 10-2 overall on the season. Bethany Hashek had 14 points, Caitlin Smith 12 rebounds and Becca Wilkinson nine points and eight steals for New Hope (5-5 overall). Matthews also led Butte Falls with nine rebounds, while Cathy Bartel added seven. Asia Million and Jessica Dunlap also played solid defense for the Loggers, which improved to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in Skyline A Southern Division play.
