Remembering how we were told to keep our VHS tapes stored (vertically and away from any speakers because they are magnetic sources), we wondered if the DVDs we’re slowly accumulating have to be stored in any special way? — George R., Phoenix Among the many virtues of DVDs is the fact that they’re more forgiving than those old VHS tapes, George. You don’t need to worry about magnetic fields. And you won’t have heat or cold extreme enough to affect them as long as you keep them out of the microwave. The main advice from the tech wizards here at Since You Asked is to keep them in their cases so they don’t get scratched up.
