Eagle Point family killed in car wreck McCLOUD, Calif. -- An Eagle Point family of four and a U.S. Forest Service employee died Friday in a two-car collision on state Highway 89 about 70 miles from the Oregon border, the California Highway Patrol reported. Only one of the victims, 60-year-old Harry Cianci of Grenada, Calif., had been identified Friday night. Cianci was a fleet manager for the nearby Klamath National Forest, according to a Forest Service spokesman. Eagle Point police said they were withholding the names of the local victims until family members were told about the deaths. The accident occurred around 11 a.m. when a 16-year-old girl, driving south on Highway 89 with three passengers, drifted onto the shoulder, overcorrected and headed into oncoming traffic, the CHP said. Cianci, alone in a Forest Service pickup truck, broadsided the girl's car near the right front door. The 16-year-old and a 45-year-old man in the front seat died at the scene, the CHP said. A 17-year-old boy in the girl's car was flown to Redding Medical Center, and a 41-year-old woman in the car was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Mount Shasta. Cianci was also taken to Mercy. All three died Friday afternoon, officials said. All five had been wearing seatbelts, police said.
