Ashland wins two in Legion doubleheader ASHLAND � Dan Lanini led an Ashland attack that produced 20 hits in posting a season-opening doubleheader victory over Phoenix in American Legion A baseball Saturday at Southern Oregon University. Ashland defeated Phoenix in a pair of six-inning games � 11-1 and 12-2. Lanini collected two hits in the opener and three hits and three RBIs in the nightcap. In Game 1, Ashland was ignited by Nick Danis� three hits, two RBIs and two runs. Bill Rowe provided two doubles. Ashland scored all the runs it would need in the first inning when Rowe doubled, Mike Allen had an RBI double and Nick Ehlers followed with a run-scoring single. Ashland opened the second game with a first-inning run when Lanini singled and eventually scored on an error.
