Nelson won the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events, and Jessop claimed 100 butterfly, an event he normally doesn’t compete in. The Grizzly boys posted a 131-82 over the Panthers at the Southern Oregon University pool, improving to 2-0 in SOC meets. For the girls, Smith ruled the 100 butterfly and placed second in the 50 freestyle, while Roda was best in the 100 and 200 freestyles. Ashland’s girls improved to 2-0 in the SOC with the 128-86 victory. COMETS SINK EAGLES — Crater posted a pair of SOC dual-meet victories over Eagle Point at the Medford YMCA. The Comet boys earned a 163-104 win, while the girls sped to a 177-88 rout. Michael Heckert (200 individual medley, 100 backstroke) and Nick Janssen (500 freestyle, 100 breaststroke) took two individual events and helped the Crater boys also claim the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. On the girls side, Lisa Pool (200 individual medley, 100 backstroke) and Ashlee Rutter (200 and 500 freestyles) won a pair of individual events and aided the Comets in 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay victories.
