October 22. 2014 2:00AM Carrol Allen Adams Carrol Allen Adams, 89, passed away October 17, 2014 at the Providence Medical Center after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease and at the last with shingles. He was born at home on a farm in Belgrade, Neb. His mother died from childbirth. He was raised to adulthood by his aunt and uncle, Harry and Grace Brown. He graduated from Belgrade High School in 1942 and joined the U.S. Navy soon after. He served in WWII in the America Asiatic Pacific and on the USS Dixie. He received the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. After his discharge he returned to Belgrade and married his neighborhood sweetheart, Myrna Young in 1950. He enrolled in the southeast Community College that same year and graduated in 1952 as a diesel mechanic. He worked for the Cummins Engine Company in Omaha and Hastings, Neb. He moved his family to Medford, Ore. in 1956 and was service manager at Cummins Diesel until his retirement in 1991. After retirement he accepted a job maintaining the diesel engines that provided the electricity for the island of Molokai, Hawaii. He and Myrna lived there for five years. He retired again in 1996. He is survived by his wife of 64 years; two sons, Floyd and Roger; daughter, Terri Baker; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held at the Eagle Point National Cemetery in Eagle Point.
