This is a gain of 378 over March of last year. In view of the larger collection and the fact that the demand is not quite so great in the spring and summer months, the library will be able hereafter to issue two books of fiction on a card, this with the understanding that one only is to be drawn from the regular seven-day shelf. DRAMA LEAGUE MEETS TONIGHT The annual meeting of the Drama league center will be held this evening at 8 o'clock at the Hotel Holland. Reports of officers and committees will be heard and a board of directors elected for the ensuing year. All members are urged to attend. LOCAL AND PERSONAL Mr. and Mrs. Carl Loveland came down from Ashland Monday in company with Mr. and Mrs. Butler on a hurried visit and to announce particulars concerning the benefit ball to be given at Ashland Friday evening for the band boys. Mr. Loveland, who is leader of the Ashland band, expressed much satisfaction on Medford's organization of a band of reputable size and strength and suggested that the local and Ashland bands will have many occasions to be helpfully useful during the present season. At the council meeting tonight the matter of the proposition and tentative agreement between the Commercial club committee, acting for the people of Medford, and President S. S. Bullis, acting for the Southern Oregon Traction company, will be submitted to the municipal lawgivers. Attorney Gus Newbury is interviewing all the members of the Medford bar today with a view to taking a committee of lawyers to the council meeting tonight to strengthen the committee's statement that the proposition they have evolved in their conferences with Mr. Bullis is legal in every sense.
