Maitland Kahikinaokala Kamaunu, 20, of the 100 block of South Second Street, Talent, was arrested Tuesday on charges of second-degree and third-degree sodomy, second- and third-degree rape, first- and second-degree sexual abuse and unlawful delivery of marijuana to a minor. He turned himself in to Jackson County sheriff's deputies after he was notified of the pending charges and was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on more than $3 million bail. Sheriff's Detective Steve Bohn declined to divulge the age and town of the juvenile victim to protect her identity. He also declined to specify the timeline of the abuse for fear it would compromise the case, but said the three-week investigation leading up to Kamaunu's arrest involved interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence. "I can't really disclose as to what we did because it would disclose potential evidence," Bohn said. "If we get any information from a witness, we want to make sure that information is accurate." Court records show Kamaunu was booked in the Jackson County Jail on March 26 on similar charges of unlawful delivery of marijuana to a minor, third-degree rape and third-degree sodomy alleged to have occurred on Sept. 12, 2014. That case was initiated through the Medford Police Department, and documents in the indictment show that the victim was younger than 16. Bohn said the two cases are separate, but their similarity raises concerns that Kamaunu may have other victims. "We just have concerns," Bohn said. "We would like them to come forward and share their story." Kamaunu is alleged to have used several different Facebook profiles to communicate with teens. Known profile names are “Maitland Kamaunu,” “YungSteez Kahikinao’kala Traplife,” “Galexy Steez,” “Maity Kamaunu,” “Prawduct Kamaunu,” and “Anthony Steez.” Kamaunu is believed to have used other forms of social media as well.
