Three counties want air service connection Representatives of Jackson, Curry and Del Norte counties signed an agreement Wednesday at the Medford airport to symbolize their commitment to develop air service between Medford and the Northern California coast. "What this will do is diversify our air service and enhance our attractiveness as a foreign trade zone," said Jackson County Commissioner Ric Holt. "And if you want to go to the coast, you don�t have to spend three hours driving. Instead you can be there in minutes. What a wonderful way to vacation." The joint resolution includes the Oregon counties of Jackson and Curry, as well as California�s Del Norte County. It resolves to develop regular flights from the McNamara Field in Crescent City to Medford. The commitment includes forming a joint task force that will work to unite the three chambers of commerce in the three counties. The chambers plan to begin meeting in the next couple of weeks. "We can promote the redwood forest and they can promote Crater Lake," Holt pointed out. "What it really means is we are going to have a hell of a good time with a lot of new people." Jackson County airport director Bern Case said he hopes to get the new air service started this spring.
