Clayfolk Pottery Show and Sale The 40th annual event will run Friday-Sunday, Nov. 20-22, at the Medford Armory, 1701 S. Pacific Highway, Medford. Featuring work from more than 60 artists from across Oregon and Northern California, Clayfolk is the signature event of the Southern Oregon Potters Association. The event includes artist demonstrations, kids clay area, raffle giveaways and music from local groups. Admission is free. Main St., Ashland, will hold its 42nd annual holiday open house from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 21. The free event will feature live music from Siskiyou Singers, Camelot Theatre Company, Thanks for the Memories Theatre Company, Siskiyou Violins, Ashland High School’s choir, North Medford High School's choir and the Ed Dunsavage Trio. Lots of food and treats will be available, and Paddington Station will take food donations for the Ashland Emergency Food Bank. Raffle drawings and giveaways will take place throughout the day.   GingerBread Jubilee The GingerBread Jubilee is one of the Rogue Valley’s most favorite contests, benefit auctions and holiday celebration. Proceeds from the multiday event benefit the Craterian Theatre. Activities revolve around the Gingerbread Contest, where anyone is invited to impress the judges by using gingerbread and all-edible materials to create architectural wonders and fantastical objects. Events include a benefit auction at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, where an assortment of private parties, great getaways, merchandise and gingerbread creations will be up for bid while guests enjoy food, wine and holiday desserts. A Community Tour, in which the public can view the gingerbread creations, runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday-Monday, Nov. 21-23. Admission is $3. Complete with live music and dazzling stage effects, the play tells the story of that fateful Christmas Eve when miserly Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by his old business partner Jacob Marley, followed by spirits of the past, present and future – intended to set Ebenezer on the unlikely path to redemption. Main St., in downtown Ashland. Eighteen members will exhibit an artful display of styles and pieces made from local, domestic and imported wood, including elegant furniture, carvings, turned bowls and more. Admission is free. For information, see www.siskiyouguild.org   Ashland Festival of Light Ashland's 23rd annual Festival of Light kicks off Friday, Nov. 27. The big event is the annual Christmas Parade at 5 p.m., followed by the Grand Illumination, when thousands of lights are turned on for the holidays. People start getting ready for the festivities at 1 p.m. with entertainment on the Plaza, and at 4:30 p.m. there will be a Lights for Life tree lighting. From 6:15 to 8 p.m., Santa and Mrs. Claus will meet with families and children at the Black Swan Theater, on the corner of Pioneer and East Main.   Jacksonville Victorian Christmas Every year, Jacksonville goes Victorian for Christmas. The town is decorated with cedar boughs, sparkling lights and a huge community Christmas tree. Father Christmas visits with the children, horse-drawn wagon rides travel through town, and carolers sing of the joy of the season. Holiday events begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, with a Victorian Christmas tree lighting ceremony and community caroling. Festivities will be on the block of Third Street between California and C streets. After caroling, Father Christmas will light the tree, greet guests and be available briefly for photos. The town's Christmas parade starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. The parade route begins in the block of South Oregon between Californian and Main, then continues down California Street to Fifth Street. For kids, Santa Claus and a helper-elf will be on hand. Visitors can browse the farm's holiday boutique, kids can play at the kids' craft corner, and everybody can enjoy hot cider and fresh-baked goods. Second St., Ashland, will hold its 33rd annual Dickens' Christmas Feast Dec. 2-6, 9-13, 16-20, and 22-24. The feast consists of a local take on a traditional six-course Christmas feast. Carolers in Dickens' Christmas costumes entertain as they stroll through the restaurant singing traditional carols. The restaurant will take your orders when you make your reservation. Cost is $75 per person, with tax and gratuities included. A $35 per person deposit is required with a guaranteed number for your party. Dinner begins at 6:30 each evening. The 24th annual event will feature stunning Christmas trees and displays decorated by local businesses, interior designers, florists and other talented people and displayed inside the Medford Armory, 1701 S. Pacific Highway, Medford. The festival includes an assortment of holiday decorations, including designer tabletop trees and mini trees, wreaths, fireplace mantels and displays. Events include an opening-night gala from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, and a holiday party from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3. Public viewing of the trees and decorations will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6. For details, see www.rvsymphony.org or call 541-708-6400.   Letters to Santa due by Dec. 4 If you want to receive a genuine letter from Santa Claus, drop your child’s personal letter to Santa in the North Pole mailbox at Santo Community Center, or mail it to: Medford Parks and Recreation, ATTN: Santa, 701 N. Columbus Ave., Medford, OR 97501. The child’s letter must include a stamped, self-addressed envelope. Santa mails back a personalized letter in time for Christmas 2015. To ensure a timely response, letters are accepted through Friday, Dec. 4.   Breakfast with Santa One of Medford’s favorite holiday traditions, the Saturday, Dec. 5 event allows families to enjoy a hot breakfast, and kids will have fun making a special holiday craft. Session 1 runs from 9-9:45 a.m., and Session 2 goes from 10-10:45 a.m. at Santo Center.   Medford Winter Lights Festival Medford's annual Winter Lights Festival and Christmas tree lighting will include several events for the family, including a coloring contest with prizes, photo ops with Santa, live performances, and booths and activities. Festivities will kick off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at Pear Blossom Park off N. Bartlett St. in downtown. A candy-cane hunt for kids ages 1 to 12 starts at 4:30 p.m.   Christmas With The Chorale The Rogue Valley Chorale will present a Celtic-themed holiday concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford. The show will feature the Scotch/Irish duo Men of Worth in a concert designed for the whole family. The Musical' at Randall Theatre A classic tale of holiday redemption returns to the stage at the Randall Theatre of Medford. "Scrooge! The Musical" opens Thursday, Dec. 10, with the theater's traditional opening-night reception. Pre-show activities, which include dinner and drinks, begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by the show at 7:15 p.m. Performances continue through Dec. 27. On Friday, Dec. 11, riders will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the RVTD pick-up and drop-off at Santo Community Center. Cost is $3 per person and preregistration is required. Seats are limited. Columbus Ave., Medford.   Teen Musical Theater of Oregon — 'White Christmas' Craterian Performances' Teen Musical Theater of Oregon will present "White Christmas" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at the Craterian Theater, 23 S. Central Ave. Based on the iconic film, this heartwarming musical sweeps you into the holiday spirit as a couple of World War II veteran, romance-minded, song-and-dance men pursue a pair of singing sisters to a Vermont lodge at Christmas-time. The fellows are surprised to learn the lodge is owned by their former commanding general who has fallen on hard times, so they hatch a plan to help. The production includes Irving Berlin tunes such as “Sisters,” “Blue Skies,” and the title tune. Tickets are $22 for adults and $12 for youth 18 and younger. Nilsen, who graduated from Southern Oregon University in 1979 and spent nearly two decades in the Rogue Valley, lives in West Linn. (541-855-7224).   Southern Oregon Repertory Singers Southern Oregon Repertory Singers, in its 30th season under the direction of Dr. Paul French, will present a holiday concert, “Sing We Merrily,” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, at the Southern Oregon University Music Recital Hall on North Mountain Avenue in Ashland. A free pre-concert lecture about the music will be delivered one hour prior to the concert. Featured works will include the “Deutches Magnificat” of Heinrich Schütz (accompanied by a chamber orchestra drawn from the Rogue Valley Symphony), motets of William Byrd, John Tavener, Steven Sametz, Swiss composer Ivo Antognini, a newly commissioned work for choir and chamber orchestra by Craig Kingsbury, and a tour de force setting of “O magnum mysterium” by 29-year-old American wunderkind Daniel Elder. The second half of the program will feature traditional and newly composed carols from around the world and a guest appearance of the North Medford High School Chamber Choir. Foley, along with a troupe of award-winning Celtic musicians, singers and dancers, will take the audience on a Christmas Eve journey to a West Ireland farmhouse where neighbors converge to share “gifts of music, song, dance and story.” New to this year’s show is vocalist and flute player Nuala Kennedy, who sings Irish Christmas carols in her native Irish language as well as in Scots Gaidhlig.
