Am I the only one who has never heard the terms before? — John N., Eagle Point Hoo-boy, John, where have YOU been? It’s all about blogs and bloggers these days! Seriously, you’re not alone, John. The etymology geek here at Since You Asked Towers asked his Aunt Plethora in Peoria, and she thought it was a type of dancing. But no. A blog — sometimes called a Web log or weblog — is a Web site hybrid that’s part personal viewpoint and part links to other Web sites. Think of it as a diary of sorts. Subject matter and veracity vary almost infinitely. Blogs are usually organized chronologically with the most recent entries on top. Advertisement Blogging dates back a decade or so, but it picked up steam more recently with the advent of blogger.com, a popular publishing system. Blogs tend to be personal, informal, even quirky. The blog may be seen as an updated form of the journal brought into the cyberspace age. As blogger.com says, "A blog gives you your own voice on the Web." That’s the good news, and the bad news.
