Coughlin replaces Matt Faurot, who resigned two weeks ago. "He coached three of our eighth-graders this year and so he has some familiarity with our program," St. Mary’s coach James Joy said. "I think he’ll be a good match for our guys." Coughlin was an all-conference player at Glencoe High in Hillsboro and played collegiately at Oregon. Coughlin is also a writer and speaker who has written three books. A fourth book, titled, "How to Raise Good Kids in a ‘Nice’ World," is due out next summer. St. Mary’s is also looking for an assistant coach to replace Jeremy Gephard. Advertisement ‘Beat the Pro’ moves to Quail Point this week The "Beat the Pro" golf challenge put on by KTVL News 10 has been moved to Quail Point Golf Course Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This week’s event, the first of a 10-week series, was originally scheduled for Centennial Golf Club. During a normal round of golf, participants pay $5 at the designated hole and try to hit inside the celebrity pro of the week. Prizes will be awarded, and proceeds go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association Summer Camp program. The competition will be held at area courses through August, culminating in a championship tournament. This week’s hole is the fourth hole at Quail Point, where Centennial Golf Club head pro Peggy Atwood’s shot is the one to beat. OSU College World Series games will air on KMED KMED Radio (AM-1440) will broadcast Oregon State University baseball games at the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. The Beavers meet Miami at 4 p.m. Saturday in their tournament opener. If they win that game, they will play either Rice or Georgia at 4 p.m. Monday. A first-game loss would put the Beavers into an 11 a.m. Monday time slot. Veteran sportscaster Mike Parker will call the action from Rosenblatt Stadium.
