Rogues drop second straight to Potters By Mail Tribune staff Jul 13, 2022 09:50 PM A A LINCOLN, Calif. — The Medford Rogues dropped their second straight nail-biter to open their 11-day road trip, trailing the entire way in a 6-4 loss to the Lincoln Potters at McBean Stadium on Wednesday night. The Rogues offense finished with 10 hits, but was unable to fully recover after falling behind 4-0 just two innings in. Medford had the potential game-tying run at the plate in the top of the ninth after CJ Colyer reached on an error, but Barron Zamora and Grant Henry struck out in back-to-back at-bats to end the game. Lincoln’s JT Waldon opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with an RBI double. The next batter, Nolan McCarthy, made it 3-0 with a two-run home run off Medford starter Adam Shew. A Trey Furrey groundout to second base gave the Potters a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Barron Zamora knocked in the Rogues’ first run of the night with an RBI single in the top of the third to cut the Potters’ lead to 4-1. The Rogues again cut into the Potters’ lead in the fifth, as Henry cashed in with two outs and the bases loaded, hitting a two-run single to make it 5-3. Moments later, Trey Nelson made it a one-run game with an RBI single to score Colyer. Lincoln catcher Matthew Lee was able to get one of those runs back in the bottom half of the fifth with an RBI single. Medford’s Reece MacRae was 3-for-5 with two runs, while Zamora and Nelson were both 2-for-4 with an RBI. Waldon finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run. The Rogues (16-13-1) and Potters conclude their three-game series at 6:35 p.m. Thursday night. LINCOLN POTTERS 2, MEDFORD ROGUES 1, 10 inn. : At Lincoln, California, Lincoln’s Garen Caulfield hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Medford Rogues opened their road trip with a loss Tuesday night. The Potters’ Trey Furrey hit a one-out single against Rogues reliever Jacob Memmott to put the potential winning run on base in the 10th. After Memmott was able to get the second out, Furrey scored from first on Caulfield’s double to walk things off. The Rogues scored their lone run of the game in the top of the second, taking a 1-0 lead on Trey Nelson’s RBI single. Medford used five pitchers in the game, as they combined to record 16 strikeouts. Starting pitcher David Grewe had eight of those, allowing one run and three hits in four innings of work. Lincoln starter Kaden Riccomini allowed one run and three hits over six innings. All told, the Potters finished with 13 strikeouts against the Rogues.
