Guglielmino, Martin lead way at GPD By Mail Tribune staff Sep 30, 2019 09:46 PM A A GRANTS PASS — Kassie Guglielmino and David Martin each rode three winners at Grants Pass Downs Monday, and the track did a record off-track wagering handle for the second week in a row of its inaugural fall meet. The off-track handle of $69,153 eclipsed the previous figure of $67,853. Guglielmino captured the second, third and seventh races. Martin took the fifth, sixth and eighth. Trainers Heath Lawrence (third, fourth) and Rigoberto Velasquez (sixth, eighth) each notched two wins. In the 5 1/2-furlong fifth race, Martin was first aboard Chill, bringing home the victory for Ashland trainer Margie Cantrell and Grants Pass owner Dan Shepard. Racing resumes Sunday, with gates opening at 11:30 a.m. for a 1 p.m. post. Anyone wearing NFL gear will get in free as part of an NFL Sunday promotion. There will be 10 races Sunday and Monday to make up for races lost to poor track conditions last Sunday.
