South Medford used a three-goal barrage in the first 15 minutes of play to coast to a 3-0 victory over Roseburg on Tuesday. Amber Stevens scored in the sixth and 11th minutes, and Courtney Quinowski added the final dagger off a penalty kick in the 15th. "We just didn’t wake up," said Roseburg coach Bryce Martin of his team’s first-half woes. "I guess we were a little intimidated." The Indians made an adjustment at halftime and held South scoreless the rest of the way. Advertisement The Panthers improved to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in the SOC, but coach Cindy Jolly wasn’t thrilled with the second-half effort. "We got the three goals, and then we just sucked," said Jolly. "I felt some kids gave a lot of effort. It’s just a constant learning experience." Roseburg (5-5, 3-1 SOC) held a 7-5 advantage in shots at the half, but it was on the losing end of a 12-4 advantage of shots in the final half. "We made some adjustments at the half and did a little better," said Martin. "But when you get down 3-0 early, you’re not going to get back against a team like South." Roseburg picked up solid play in goal by Allison Radar, who kept the game from getting ugly in the second half, according to Martin. NORTH MEDFORD 2, ASHLAND 0 — At Ashland, North Medford’s Katy Kunkle made key saves in the goal to help seal the win for the Black Tornado. North Medford’s defense limited Ashland to three shots on goal, all of which were turned away by Kunkle. Emily Gross scored North Medford’s first goal late in the first half on a direct kick from 35 yards out. The score remained 1-0 until late in the second half, when Stephanie Mendenhall found Whitney Major with a cross, and Major converted. The Black Tornado remains undefeated at 4-0 in SOC play and improved to 8-2-1 overall. Ashland drops to 0-4 in the SOC. CRATER 6, KLAMATH UNION 2 — At Klamath Falls, Kasidy Reina scored a hat trick and assisted on two other goals as Crater improved to 2-2 in the SOC. Sarah LaFontaine scored a pair of goals to go along with an assist, and Janelle Stoner drove home a goal and assisted on two others. Jenna Fay scored both goals for Klamath Union, which fell to 0-4 in conference play. The Comets (8-2 overall) outshot the Pelicans 18-13. GRANTS PASS 8, EAGLE POINT 0 — At Eagle Point, seven different Cavers reached the net in the shutout. Megan Cardiff scored a goal in each half, and Karen Allen also scored after spending a half in the net. Megan Franko had four assists, finding Courtney Cameron, Abby Klingel, Aubrey Peterson and Jakki Pilcher. Grants Pass improved to 3-1 in the SOC, tying with Roseburg for third place. The Eagles dropped to 0-4 in conference action.
