Meredith, a 6-foot-1 senior, had 18 kills and eight blocks as the Pirates downed North Valley, 26-24, 25-16, 25-16. Phoenix (6-3, 2-2 Skyline) had lost its previous two matches to top-ranked Lakeview and No. 2-ranked Henley. "She pretty much took over the game at crunch time in the first game," said Pirates coach Tom Murphy, noting that Meredith had five kills as the Pirates rallied from a 24-18 deficit. "That was the stretch that pushed us over the top, which was pivotal because that first game was pretty hard-fought." Tiffany Ross added 15 kills, and Kelsey Russell was 14-of-14 serving, with three aces. Defensively, Jennifer Dunlap and Tiffany McCarty each had four digs and were 12-of-12 serving. For North Valley (5-4, 2-2 Skyline), Elaina Renius had 20 kills in 42 attempts and three digs, and Whitney Makepeace had eight digs. HENLEY 25-25-25, ROGUE RIVER 16-11-13 — At Klamath Falls, senior middle Staci Maupin had 20 kills and eight stuff blocks in the Skyline Conference match. Senior setter Katherine Stock had 24 assists in guiding the Hornets’ offense. Second-ranked Henley (7-0, 4-0 Skyline) was 70-of-74 serving, with five aces. Katie Glasscock had 11 kills and Ashleigh Artoff 19 assists to lead Rogue River (2-2, 2-2). ILLINOIS VALLEY 25-8-25-25, HIDDEN VALLEY 19-25-17-18 — At Cave Junction, Illinois Valley (2-5, 1-4 Skyline) picked up its first Skyline win as middle Kim Hamilton had 19 digs, nine blocks and 16 kills. IV’s Ricci Coultas had seven aces to go with a team-high 12 digs and three kills Cougar setter Tiphanie Pope handed out 11 assists, five kills and three aces. For Hidden Valley, Stephanie Dean had 16 digs and 11 saves, Keely Gill had 13 digs and five ills and Laura Miller provided 17 assists. Southern Cascade League ST. MARY’S WINS PAIR — At Gilchrist, St. Mary’s defeated Chiloquin 25-19, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20 and Gilchrist 25-10, 25-18, 25-13 to improve to 4-0 in the SCL. In the opener, the Crusaders served at 94 percent against Chiloquin. Christina Vaninetti led at the net with 18 kills and Chrissy Seus added 13. Setters Melissa Anderson and Libby Trum each had 27 digs and combined for 43 assists. Anderson got St. Mary’s off to a fast start against Gilchrist by serving the first 10 points in the opening game. Anderson had 21 assists in the match. Seus sparked the front line with a match-high 12 kills and nine digs. CHALLENGERS SPLIT — At Merrill, Bonanza slipped by Cascade Christian in the opener of a three-way event, with the Challengers rebounding for a 25-18, 25-12, 25-19 win over host Lost River in the nightcap. Bonanza pulled away for a 26-24, 12-25, 19-25, 25-12, 16-14 victory over the Challengers (4-4, 2-2 SCL) despite 16 kills and six blocks from Cascade’s Kayleen Conley. Sophomore Audrey Holmes served 13 straight points against Bonanza and 12 straight against Lost River.
