Heuberger wins race, qualifies for NAIA nationals By Wire Reports Mar 08, 2004 12:00 AM A A SACRAMENTO, Calif. - At Sacramento, Southern Oregon senior Megan Heuberger posted a provincial qualifying mark for NAIA nationals of — minute, 5.32 seconds in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles at the Hornet Open on Saturday. Heuberger also ran a leg on the women's winning 4x400 relay team. The time of 4:02.02 is also a provincial qualifying mark. Andrea Eide, Rachel Hinze and Brook Jaentsch were also on the team. The Raider women placed second in the 4x100 relay with a 50.0 hand-held time. The team was the same except for Emily Dunn replacing Jaentsch. Other women's highlights were a first by Jaentsch in the high jump (5-1) and second by Brynn Cogdill in the 3,000 (10:21.48). The top individual men's performance was Sean Peterson's sixth in the 3,000 meters (8:55.01). The men's 4x400 relay team, with Colby Stone, Dusty Waugh, Ross Dexter and Trevor Palmer, placed third (3:29.39). Besides the host school, Portland State, Humboldt State, Oregon Tech and a small contingent from Stanford competed.Tennis Tennis At Portland, the Southern Oregon University women's tennis team swept through the doubles matches en route to an 8-1 victory over Lewis and Clark on Sunday. The win improved the Raiders to 4-1 on the season and came a day after Amy Hurlocker's victory at No. 6 singles carried SOU to a 5-4 win over Willamette.
