Don Anderson Jan 02, 2011 12:00 AM A A Don Anderson, of Tigard, Ore., passed away peacefully on December 23, 2010, from cancer. He was born in Klamath Falls, Ore., on October 8, 1935, to a pioneer family merged of the Spencers and Andersons. Don graduated from Henley High School and played basketball, football and track for the Hornets. He joined the Navy and served on a destroyer in the far East Pacific fleet during the Korean War. He married his high school sweetheart and returned to Oregon to start a family. Don worked in the wood products industry his entire career, mostly with Boise Cascade. Starting out as a general laborer at a mill, and working his way up to foreman, and then to claims manager at the corporate office. Don was an accomplished, self-taught, wood worker. His creations included bowls, tables, chairs, privacy screens, and an intricate grandfather clock. A favorite day of his would be working on a special project in his shop with country music on in the background, and his wife and dog nearby. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wanda; his mother, Lorraine Anderson; and brothers, Jerry, Ken and Dave Anderson. Don leaves behind three children and their spouses, Gary and Sandy, Dianna and Brian, and Tom and Kelcie; and seven beloved grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Monday, January 3, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Tigard, Ore., followed by a military service at Willamette National Cemetery, at 2:00 p.m. Donations may be made to Providence Willamette Falls Hospice, 1505 Division St., Oregon City, OR, 97405.
