Dobry finished in 17 minutes, 48.2 seconds but was edged out for the top spot by Summit junior Olivia Brooks, who won in 17:45.2. With help from freshman Emma Bennion, who was 32nd in 19:35.1, the Crusaders finished seventh in the 14-team gold division. Phoenix junior Danielle Jantzer (25th, 19:16.8) and senior Emma Amundsen (29th, 19:22.9) also fared well in the elite race. Camas won the girls gold division with 46 points, well ahead of runner-up Summit (77). In the boys gold division, Phoenix finished seventh (214) and Ashland eighth (234) as Summit ran away with the crown by scoring 41 points. Sheldon senior Jackson Mestler won in 15:19, with Ashland’s Raymond Impara (21st, 16:19.3) and Phoenix’s Jacob Bergren (36th, 16:41.4) and Leif Amundsen (37th, 16:41.6) leading the charge among the local runners. In the silver division, South Medford’s girls scored 71 points to finish well ahead of runner-up Ashland (166), while the Panther boys totaled 95 points to easily outdistance Glencoe (196). South Medford sophomore Jazmin Duncan placed third in 19:48.5 to pace her squad, with teammates Willow Smith (16th, 20:49.9) and Deanndria Shields (17th, 20:51.2) also finishing in the top 20. Eagle Point’s Ariana Marks (11th, 20:29.5) and Ashland’s Hazel Richards (14th, 20:37.3) also put in solid times in the silver girls race. Freshman Alex Villa placed 10th to pace the Panther boys in 16:47.2, with teammate Joel Centeno (16th, 17:04.1) and Luke Parks (18th, 17:09.5) also in the top 20. Volleyball PROSPECT 3, TRIAD 2 : At Prospect, Chrystyna Smith was 27-for-27 from the service line with three aces and helped spark Prospect to a rally in Mountain Valley League play, 26-28, 11-25, 25-16, 25-17, 16-14. Baley VanWormer added 16 kills and Jordan Kuykendall had 30 assists for the Cougars (11-7, 5-3 MVL). Water Polo MEDFORD GIRLS SWEEP : At Eugene, Medford’s girls team picked up its first wins of the season, 14-8 over Sheldon and 10-3 over Willamette, to highlight action at Amazon Pool. Marissa Drake combined to score 10 goals to pace the Panthers, with Vanessa Babb netting seven and Tori Kelly scoring five. Andrea Babb combined for 15 saves in goal. Medford’s boys team lost 13-10 to Sheldon and 18-6 to Willamette, with Cyrus Christianson combining for six goals and Carter Hazen adding four and Carter Hazen three. Cormac Webb made 10 saves overall in goal.
