I thought in the state of Oregon, the tags were only issued for two years. Thanks. — Staci P., Medford We’d be willing to bet that all those cars you saw with registration tags that expire in 2006 were new cars, Staci. Starting this year, people who buy new cars can get an initial four-year registration. Because most people don’t sell or trade-in a car after only two years, the Oregon Motor Vehicle Division made the change, said David J. House, DMV public information representative. House Bill 2133 passed by the 2001 Oregon Legislature made the new regulations possible. However, the new registration may not be available in all parts of the state, House said.
