Raiders unravel in road contest LA GRANDE -- It was the tale of two halves Sunday for the Southern Oregon University women's basketball team. The Raiders dominated first-half action, leading by as many as 14 points and eventually taking a nine-point lead into the break. Things turned sour, however, as Eastern Oregon out-scored SOU 40-15 in the second half en route to a 63-47 win in Cascade Conference action. "Eastern Oregon was just a physical team," said Southern Oregon coach Shirley Huyett. "We didn't shoot free throws well, didn't rebound, shot poorly from the field. The wheels just fell off." Melissa England led the Raiders with nine points in the opening half as SOU looked in control through the first 20 minutes. But then things quickly unraveled in a lackluster second-half effort. "We couldn't get good shots and when one came along we couldn't make it," said Huyett. "When a game is as intense as this one was we have to learn to play stronger."
