Roseburg sweeps Grants Pass GRANTS PASS -- The Grants Pass softball team entered Southern Oregon Conference play full of promise. Only six games into their league campaign, the Cavers now have nothing but question marks after being swept at home by Roseburg Saturday in an SOC doubleheader. Roseburg slipped past Grants Pass, 3-1 and 4-3, to drop the Cavers to 14-5 overall and 3-3 in SOC play. The Indians improved to 4-2 in league. "It's a huge disappointment," Grants Pass coach Clay Rounsaville said. "Not to take anything away from Roseburg, but we just haven't played well in our last four games." Grants Pass had the tying run at bat in the seventh inning of the first game and had the winning run on second base in the nightcap but couldn't come up with the big hit in either case. Erin Goodell had an RBI single and scored twice to lead Roseburg in the first game, while Shannon Burmeister had a three-run triple in the nightcap to give the Indians a 4-1 lead in the sixth.
