Described as a middle-aged white woman with "bleach blond" hair, the robber walked into the bank at 475 East Pine Street at around 5 p.m., the close of the business day. The woman, who wore dark sunglasses, presented a note to a teller demanding money. No one was injured in the robbery, and the amount of money taken from the bank was unavailable. Lt. Tony McPherson of the Central Point police said while no weapon was displayed during the robbery, the note stated another individual was outside the bank — which gave the teller the impression that the woman was not alone. "The inference, of course, was that someone was watching from outside the bank that would do something if they didn’t cooperate and give her the money," McPherson said. Police described the suspect as approximately 5-feet, 8-inches tall, between 30 and 40 years of age with a slim to medium build with bleached, blond hair pinned up with a hair clip. At the time of the robbery, she wore a black skirt and a loose fitting black jacket that prevented an accurate description of her weight. Bank employees told police the woman kept the note she used in the robbery and left on foot, eastbound along Pine Street, with an undisclosed amount of cash. Officers arrived shortly after being dispatched at 5:18 p.m., but police had no witnesses who saw the woman leaving the bank. "We’re still at the beginning of his thing so we still don’t have a lot to go on," McPherson said. Sgt. Toni Winters said a bank robbery had not taken place in Central Point in "at least three or four years, or longer." Winters said it was unclear, as of late Tuesday, whether bank security cameras caught a clear picture of the robber on tape.
