Kelsey Corbin and Katie Singler each dished six assists to go with solid scoring efforts for the Panthers (5-10, 3-3 SOC). "They passed the ball around real well," said South coach Andrea Jaime, "especially in the fourth quarter when (the Eagles) had their press. We were able to find the open pass, and they eventually had to take [the press] off." South Medford led by three going into halftime, but the Eagles erased the lead and made one of their own, thanks to a game-high 19 points from Ashley Curtis. Eagle Point (7-9, 0-6 SOC) was poised for an upset, but hurt itself by missing 13 free throws, including eight in the fourth quarter. Advertisement "That kind of did us in," said Eagles coach Bob Kleker. "We tried to run on them, and did a fairly good job, but you can’t miss that many free throws." Brittany Farrer led the Panthers in scoring with 18 to join eight rebounds. Corbin scored 12 points, and Marissa Towry added nine. The Eagles also found their passing game, as Kristina Bateman dished 11 assists. Curtis grabbed nine rebounds, and Salina Sychla added 15 points for the Eagle Point. With the win, South Medford pulls into a three-way tie for fourth place with Ashland and Roseburg, while Eagle Point stays in the SOC cellar with Klamath Union. EAGLE POINT (59) — Curtis 19, Bateman 9, Logan 5, Sorrels 2, Sychla 15, Richardson 9, Woodall 0, Emigh 0, Harrington 0. Totals: 24 8-21 59. Eagle Point 3 (Bateman 1, Sychla 1, Richardson 1). Fouled out — Sychla. JV result — South Medford won. GRANTS PASS 60, KLAMATH UNION 57 — At Klamath Falls, Erin Glovinsky hit two free throws with 10 seconds remaining to give Grants Pass a three-point lead, and Klamath Union missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer. The Pelicans (8-8, 0-6 SOC) trailed by 10 going into the final quarter, but rallied, thanks in part to Jenni Ritter’s game-high 25 points. Glovinsky led the Cavers with 21 points, while Shanna Claflin added 12. Grants Pass (3-3 SOC) jumped out to a 21-13 lead after one quarter and had a 46-36 cushion entering the fourth.
