The Colts (23-7, 16-4 Area 4) took a 9-2 decision in the opener and completed the sweep with a 14-1 rout in the nightcap to clinch the Area 4 Southern Division crown. Tommy George gave up three hits and two runs in the first inning of Game 1, but held the Pilots hitless the rest of the way to record his fourth victory in six decisions. Dan Chancler and Tim Holtz each went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, while Logan Boyd and Kevin Salisbury each added a pair of hits. Advertisement In Game 2, Colts’ pitcher Matt Bryant followed George’s game-plan, allowing a run and a pair of hits in the first then stifling the Ashland bats the remainder of the five-inning affair. The South Medford offense used 10 runs in the top of the fifth to end the game early due to the 10-run mercy rule. Chancler added three more hits to his total, while Boyd, Evan Norris and Justin Meyer contributed two hits apiece. The Colts wrap up the regular season with a non-conference game against Central Point at 5 p.m. on Monday. Little League Baseball DISTRICT 6 TOURNAMENT — The Medford American Blue needed only four innings to dispatch Upper Rogue, 11-0, and advance to the next round of the 11-12-year-old All-Star tournament at Medford American Fields. Matt Maurer pitched three innings of no-hit ball, while striking out eight of the nine batters he faced. Hayden Wolfe entered in the fourth and set down the side in order to preserve the no-hitter and end the game due to the 10-run mercy rule. Jordan Ellis had two hits and three RBIs, while Tyler Spears belted a two-run home run. Chris Bradshaw, Maurer and Kody Bonham also had two hits apiece. In other games, Medford American Red dropped a 13-3 decision to South Suburban and was eliminated from the tournament. Daniel Kinney went 2-for-2 to lead the Red in defeat. Ashland beat Lakeview, 12-0, to advance and Klamath Falls downed Ore-Cal, 8-3. Medford American Blue faces Klamath Falls on Saturday at 6 p.m. in championship bracket play.
