FM-12 DATA SET

A fully compatible , reliable data set
available in a variety of configurations

FM-12 MODULES

FOUR FM-1
IN MOUNTING ASSEMB

DESCRIPTION: The Rixon FM - 12 Data Set is a
low speed modem for transmitting and receiving
digital data over telephone circuits at speeds up
to 1200 bits per second ( 150 characters per sec¬
ond). Built to comply with EIA RS -232 B inter¬
face standards, it is compatible with a wide vari¬
ety of business machines and data processing
equipment.

VARIABLE CONFIGURATION: To meet a wide
range of applications, various configurations of
the FM - 12 are available. For OEM installations
where the data set is to be built into terminal
equipment, a plug-in module set which contains
all circuitry is available. The FM - 12 can also
be packaged as a complete assembly, with or with¬
out a power supply, for mounting in a standard
19" rack. Also available is a unit for desk top
use or shelf mounting. For synchronous operation,
an optional clock is available.

USES TELEPHONE CIRCUITS: The FM - 12 oper¬
ates over Type 3003(Type 4A) telephone circuits
specified in FCC Tariff 260, "Private Line Ser¬
vices." Type 3003 circuits are voice telephone

channels which have been conditioned for data
transmission.

AUTOMATIC OPERATION: When data is to be
transmitted or received, the data set is activated
automatically by a signal from the computer or
business machine. There are no controls with the
exception of an off-on switch included in some
configurations.

EASY MAINTENANCE: Operational status can be
quickly determined by using strategic test points
on the front of each module that are keyed to op¬
erating and maintenance manual instructions. The
oscilloscope patterns shown in the manual are also
printed on a "service aid" template which is a-
vailable as an option.

PROVEN DESIGN STANDARDS: The FM-12 is
the newest of the Rixon Data Sets. The high stand¬
ards of design perfection and operating reliabil -
ity that have given the other sets a reputation for
excellence have been employed in the design of
the FM - 12. Thousands of hours of trouble-free

*

operation can be expected.
