SETTING UP OF WATER PURIFICATION AND POWER PLANTS

Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state: 


(a) whether the Railways have decided to set up water purification plant and an independent power plant; 
(b) if so, the details thereof; 
(c) the estimated expenditure expected to be incurred on these projects; and 


(d) the time by which these are likely to be set up ?

(a) to (d) : It has been decided that Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will set up plants for manufacturing “Rail 
Neer ina phased manner. So far, IRCTC has set up two plants, one at Nangloi (Delhi) and the other at Danapur (Bihar). 


At present, there is no proposal for setting up of Independent Power Plant. However, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has 
been signed with National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) for exploring the possibilities for setting up of Joint Venture 
Power Plant.
