--> --> March 18: SOU Track and Field Ashland Daily Tidings At Arcata, Calif. - The Raiders had 12 first-place efforts, including two each by Richard Bailey and Nicole Robertson, at the Humboldt Open Invitational Saturday. Bailey led the Raider men by taking first in the shotput with a throw of 45-2 3/4, and first in the discus with a heave of 153-2. Robertson also won both the shotput (41-10) and the discus (139-4), the latter by nearly 40 feet. The Raider men added victories in the javelin (Jeff Bentley, 185-9) and the hammer throw (Justin Bennett, 156-9 1/2) to garner a weight events sweep. Also for the SOU men, Joe Sheire won the 400 hurdles in 56.84 and was the 110 hurdles runner-up in 15.58. For the Raider women, Brook Jaentsch won the high jump with a leap of 5-2, Kena Page took the long jump (17-9 1/2), Caley Nordahl won the 400 (1:02.27) and Liana Bernard won the 3,000 (10:50.4). Also for the Raiders, two relay teams were victorious - the men's 1,600 (3:24.2) and the women's 1,600 (4:05.2).
