Brophy boosts St. Mary's to win St. Mary's completed the District 6 season with a second-place finish and advances to the state playoffs after a 15-1 five-inning victory over Prospect on Monday. Prospect forfeited the second game of the scheduled doubleheader, giving the Crusaders a 20-3 mark for the season and an 8-2 league record. They open the postseason May 26 at the home of the West Valley League runner-up. Monday's game was played at St. Mary's because of a wet field at Prospect. The Crusaders were the visitors. Lani Brophy pitched a two-hitter, struck out nine and walked four. She also had a run-scoring double and scored three runs. Also for St. Mary's, Shawna Jackson went 2-for-3, with two runs and two RBIs; Shasta DeArmond was 2-for-4, with three runs and two RBIs; and Kelley Munro drove in two runs. The game was a makeup of an earlier rainout. Travis Smeltz had three hits, three RBIs and a run for Butte Falls, which finished the season 0-12 in District 6 and 4-21 overall.
