Zach Allen pitched a complete-game, four-hitter for the RiverDogs, who could muster only two hits during a 1-0 loss in the opener. Jesse Stevenson continued the strong presence on the mound in the nightcap and the RiverDogs’ bats came alive during a 10-0 victory. Dan Bruce and Phil Ouellette each had three hits in Game 2 and Eric Beasley keyed a six-run fifth inning with a two-run home run — his first of the season. Advertisement Ouellette capped the inning with a two-run single and Stevenson held Butte in check in the bottom half to end the game after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule. In Game 1, Brian Stock and Bruce each reached base on singles in the fifth inning, but both were left stranded in what turned out to be the RiverDogs’ lone offensive threat. Southern Oregon (18-11) returns home for a 5:30 p.m. doubleheader with the Redding Spirits on Friday at Miles Field. FIRST GAME S.O.
