Churchill ekes past North Churchill opened an 11-point halftime lead and held on for a 51-48 non-conference girls basketball win over host North Medford Tuesday. "I�m real pleased with the heart and desire," said North coach J.T. Thomas. "If we can just get on the same page at the same time, we�re going to be formidable." North freshman Anna Lilly hit a 3-pointer with one minute to play that tied the contest at 45-all, but Churchill was able to ice the game at the free-throw line. Annie Roberts paced the Lancers with a game-high 24 points, including a perfect 7-for-7 from the line. "I have to tip my hat to her," said Thomas. "She�s the real deal for them at the point." Kara Hwang had 11 points while Lilly and Ashley Nelson each added 10 for the Tornado (1-2). Katrina Stevenson added 11 rebounds, while Brittany Hodges pulled down seven boards and had six steals.
