Homicide in Medford under investigation Updated: Jan 15, 2022 04:36 PM A A Police: Case continues to unfold Authorities are shown Saturday afternoon in an alley behind the 800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue as they investigate a homicide. Photo by Andy Atkinson/Mail Tribune Medford Police were dispatched at 12:36 p.m. Saturday to a residence in the 800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue for an assault with a firearm that turned out to be a homicide. The suspect, who is known to the victim, had fled the scene. “The victim was beyond help and pronounced deceased,” according to the police department. The identities of the suspect and the victim are not being released by authorities. Detectives continue to actively investigating the case and are being assisted by the Oregon State Police Crime lab and the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office. In 2021, Medford Police investigated seven homicides, all of which resulted in an arrest, the department also pointed out.
