RiverDogs snap streak PORTLAND - The Southern Oregon amateur baseball team used four pitchers to hold the Portland Javelinas to just two hits while helping the RiverDogs snap a nine-game losing streak with a 7-1 victory on Sunday. Nate Mayben and Mike Newmann had two hits apiece and an RBI, while Caleb Robbins and Don Jenkins each went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Southern Oregon broke open a tight game with a four-run third inning keyed by Newmann and Robbins' RBI doubles. The Javelinas picked up lone hits in the second and eighth innings. The RiverDogs improved to 8-10 on the season. Brett Timmerman had two hits and scored a run for the Mavs The same two teams played Saturday night with Roseburg Pepsi grabbing a 9-8 victory. Rhett Sheldon socked two doubles and had four RBIs for Roseburg Pepsi, while Manny Alegria went 2-for-2 and had three RBIs for the Mavericks, who saw their season record fall to 7-11-1. Kyle Williamson and Sam McHenry each had two hits to pace the Stallions in the opener. In the nightcap, McHenry, White and Ben Running had two hits apiece as North Medford ran its season mark to 15-1. The Challengers fought back from a 11-4 deficit with a five-run fourth inning but a single run in the fifth for the Stallions sealed the win. North Medford travels to play in the Thurston Tournament next weekend.
