Kevin Thibeault had a stand-up triple and a run scored in the fourth inning. On the mound, Jeremy Scottow allowed four hits in five innings for Medford. The other semifinal game featured the Grants Pass Americans and Central Point in a seesaw battle in which the teams exchanged the lead five times. Central Point emerged the 12-11 winner in their final at-bat when Dylan Smith came through with a game-winning single in the bottom of the sixth. Advertisement Blake Smart hit an inside-the-park solo homer for Central Point in the third inning as he went 3-for-4 with a triple. Myles Baidas had two doubles for Grants Pass. The winner of today’s 3 p.m. championship matchup between the Medford Nationals and Central Point will advance to the state tournament in Salem. In 9-10-year-old play, the Grants Pass Nationals beat the Medford Nationals Red 10-7 behind the shutout pitching of Matthew Cooper. Cooper has collected three saves in the tournament without allowing a single baserunner. Cooper was also 3-for-4 with three RBIs to help lead the offense. Nick Stofflet scored three runs and Robbie Grabowski was 4-for-4 with two doubles. For Medford, Cody Atchley ended up 3-for-3 at the plate. Grants Pass will play today at 4 p.m. for the championship against Central Point. The 11-12-year-old finals will begin at 6 p.m. with Rogue River taking the field against the Grants Pass Nationals. DISTRICT 6 11-12-YEAR-OLD TOURNAMENT — At Klamath Falls, Matt Maurer’s grand slam in the fourth inning put the finishing touches on Medford American Blue’s 15-3 victory over Phoenix Talent. Maurer finished the day 3-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBIs for Medford, which ended pool play with a 4-0 mark. Pitcher Michael Bradshaw earned the victory. Malcom Purdy finished 3-for-3, Cody James went 2-for-2 and Brady Shipley went 2-for-3 for Medford. DISTRICT 6 TOURNAMENT, 9-10 YEAR OLDS — At Klamath Falls, Medford American Red scored a wild 8-7 victory over Upper Rogue at the District 6 Tournament for 9-10 year- olds. Medford American Red trailed 7-1 after four innings but scored six runs in the fifth to tie the game, then won it in the eighth on an RBI single by Blaine Howitt. Matt Retzlaff got hit by a pitch to lead off the eighth and scored the winning run. Sam Reid rapped three hits to lead the winners at the plate.
