Tucker Barry had 16 points, five assists and four steals and Brad Allen 14 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks for North Medford, which fell to the Axemen, 77-70, on the road on Jan. 5. "Allen had a huge game," North head coach Scott Plankenhorn said. "It was his best game of the year by far." Brian Schireman chipped in 13 points and five assists and Kaison Faust scored 13 points for North (14-3, 5-2 SWC), which trailed 29-27 at halftime. The Tornado outscored the Axemen (6-11, 4-3), 19-9, in the third quarter to take command, converting 7 of 9 from the field and holding South Eugene to 3-of-8 shooting. South Eugene drew within three points in the final frame but the Tornado used 9-for-10 shooting from the free-throw line down the stretch to seal the triumph. "We really shared the basketball tonight," Plankenhorn said. "I'm happy with their effort." North Valley (9-9, 2-4 Sky) limited Phoenix to just one field goal in the first quarter and built a 24-10 halftime margin. Thomas Skaff, a junior guard, paced Phoenix (3-16, 0-6) with 14 points, three rebounds and two steals. North Valley’s Michael Martz, a 6-6 senior post, led all scorers with 21 points. ROGUE RIVER 46, CASCADE CHRISTIAN 39: At Rogue River, Rogue River kept its hopes alive for a Southern Cascade League title with the home victory and handed Cascade Christian its first league loss. After trailing by six points at halftime, the Chieftains (10-12, 3-2 SCL) turned the game around by outscoring the Challengers (14-5, 4-1) 19-8 in the third quarter. Rogue River went on a 13-5 run to take a 44-31 lead midway through the final period. Chris Campbell, Rogue River’s senior guard, had 14 points and six steals and junior Derek Pratt contributed 11 points and seven rebounds. Chad Morse and Carson Cochran both scored 11 points to lead the Challengers. CASCADE CHRISTIAN (39): Palmer 7, Morse 11, McLemore 6, Hadley 0, Flores-Alatorre 0, Cochran 11, Winter 4.
