Scriver increases lead in GPD jockey standings By Mail Tribune staff Sep 30, 2020 09:59 AM A A GRANTS PASS — Joree Scriver established herself as the jockey to beat with another three-win day Tuesday at Grants Pass Downs. Scriver’s three winners — in the first, fourth and sixth races — gave her five for the two-day week and leaves her leading the jockey standings with nine overall after four days of the fall meet. Six of her victories have come on Tuesday. Her winner in the 5 1/2-furlong first race, Azee Rules, has captured all three of its races at GPD and was one of two horses claimed on the day, both coming out of the opening race. The other was Spider Rico, who ran fifth. Jockey Jaime Lopez had a two-win day, taking the second and third races, both for quarter horses. Riders Christian Aragon and Deudis Pena-Mora won for the first time at GPD. Aragon claimed the seventh race aboard Jen’s Journey, and Pena-Mora the eighth on Kissable U. The track’s total handle of $287,568 pushed it to $592,445 for the week, or an increase of more than $26,000 over Week 1. Racing resumes at 4 p.m. Monday. Gates open at 3.
