Q2 surge lifts Roseburg ROSEBURG It took a while for the Roseburg High girls basketball team to warm up, but when it did, Eagle Point couldnt keep up. Lindsey Heard sparked a 26-8 second-quarter advantage with 15 points to lead the Indians to an easy 59-31 Southern Oregon Conference win on Tuesday. Roseburg clung to an 8-7 lead after one quarter but outscored Eagle Point 51-24 the rest of the way. "We just couldnt slow them down in the second (quarter)," said Eagle Point coach Tim Rouhier. "We were pressing and they were just getting the ball up the court and scoring on us. Oftentimes they missed the first opportunity and would hurt us on second opportunities." Roseburg, which dropped its first conference game to Klamath Union in overtime on Friday, struggled to find the hoop in the early going. "It was just one of those nights where nothing would go in," said Roseburg coach John Thomas. "We just werent very patient sometimes but we did a better job of getting the ball inside in the second quarter." Danielle Rouhier had a team-high 15 points, nine coming in the first half, and was one of only three Eagles to find the basket. Lisa Lee added nine of her 13 points in the second half as Eagle Point dropped to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in SOC play. Rouhier also pulled down eight rebounds while Lee grabbed seven. Heard finished with a game-high 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Indians. Jennifer Lint added nine boards and Erin Goodell, playing on a gimpy ankle, dished out five assists. The Indians improved to 3-6 overall and 1-1 in conference. EAGLE POINT (31) Rouhier 15, Lee 13, Winner 3, Bilden 0, Williams 0, Bateman 0, McLaughlin 0, Curtis 0, Stanfield 0, Wheeler 0.
