Gilchrist's late surge derails Crusaders St. Mary's seemed to have things under control in the first half of its inaugural Southern Cascade League girls basketball game Friday against visiting Gilchrist. That wasn't the case by game's end, however. Gilchrist, trailing by 11 points at halftime and by nine entering the fourth quarter, stormed back for a 50-46 victory. The Grizzlies outscored the Crusaders -- who moved over from the Big Fir League -- by a 22-9 count in the fourth quarter. St. Mary's dropped to 3-9 overall. Stockton also contributed 11 steals, eight rebounds and eight assists for the Loggers (6-9, 3-1 Sky A), who placed four players in double-figures.
