Vern M. Bartram Sep 06, 2015 12:00 AM A A October 29, 1919 - August 27, 2015 Vern M Bartram, 95, passed away August 27, 2015 in Medford, Ore. Vern was born October 29, 1919 in Gilby, N.D. to Carl and Carrie Bartram. His family moved to Chico for Vern’s senior year in high school. He graduated from Chico High School, attended Chico State University, and graduated from University of California Dental School, San Francisco. Vern served in the 5th Army as a Captain in the Dental Corps during WWII, in Italy and the Philippines. After returning from the war, he opened his dental practice in Chico in 1946 where he practiced general dentistry for 35 years. In 1947, Vern married Phyllis Snow Guynn. Vern and Phyllis had four daughters, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In 2011, Vern and Phyllis moved to Medford, Ore. to be near their daughters. Vern is survived by his wife, Phyllis; his daughters and sons-in-law, Andy and Ginni Boughal, Allyn, Wash., Rich and Cathee Shorkey, Medford, Ore., Chuck and Betsy Smith, Medford, Ore., and Nancy Garman, Portland, Ore.
