Many offices will close for holiday Christmas Eve Government workers and employees at many local businesses will get an early start to their holidays, when offices around the Rogue Valley close for Christmas. Federal, state and local government agencies will close Christmas Eve to observe Christmas, which falls on Saturday this year. Rogue Community College, Southern Oregon University and area schools also will be closed Friday. Many local banks will be open Friday. Bank of America, Valley of the Rogue Bank, Washington Mutual and Western Bank will open for business as usual but close between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. And grocers such as Albertson's, Safeway and Ray's Food Place will open their doors for last-minute holiday shoppers on Friday, though the stores will be closed Christmas day. Albertson's and Ray's markets will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, and Safeway stores will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Here at the Mail Tribune, the business office will be closed Friday and reopened Monday.
