Crater falls to Klamath Union KLAMATH FALLS - The Crater High girls soccer team lost its goalie before the match started Saturday and the Comets paid the price in a 4-2 Southern Oregon Conference loss to Klamath Union. Chelsea Louie suffered what was believed to be a mild concussion during warmups and coach Terry Fretz elected to keep her on the sidelines. "She was dizzy and it wasn't worth the risk," Fretz said. "You're talking about a kid's health." Brianne Hackett gave the host Pelicans a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute and that score held up until halftime. Crater tied the match at 1-1 just two minutes into the second half when Kasidy Reina took a crossing pass from Megan Confer and volleyed the ball into the net. But Hackett connected again in the 51st minute and the Pelicans got insurance goals from Erin Berlings in the 56th minute and Tabitha Cooke in the 70th. Sophomore striker Sarah LaFontaine provided the Comets with their second goal on a penalty kick with four minutes remaining. "This was a game I thought we could win and really should have won even with Louie out," Fretz said. "We outshot them 26-12 and had some breakaway opportunities we didn't capitalize on." The loss dropped the Comets to 0-2 in the SOC and 4-4 overall.
