The fourth-ranked Pirates (7-0, 6-0 Skyline), who already own a 4-0 win over No. 8 Hidden Valley this season and had yet to give up a goal in conference play, scored four second-half goals and handed the Mustangs their first Skyline Conference home loss in two years with a 4-2 victory. The win keeps Phoenix, which last defeated Hidden Valley (5-3, 5-2 Skyline) in Murphy two seasons ago, alone atop the conference standings, while foiling the Mustangs’ chances of forging a first-place tie. Phoenix left little time to celebrate, evening the game at 1-1 on a Adam Detrick goal in the 55th, then surging ahead on a John Feeney penalty kick 2 minutes later. Feeney scored the eventual game-winner for Phoenix in the 65th on a free kick from 25 yards out. Non-conference Boys ST. MARY’S 2, HENLEY 0 — At Klamath Falls, Sean Snider scored two goals in leading St. Mary’s to the non-conference victory. Snider scored his first goal at the 39th minute off a through ball from Duncan MacDiarmid. KLAMATH UNION 3, MAZAMA 0 — At Klamath Falls, the Pelicans jumped out to a 3-0 lead at the half and coasted to a non-conference win. Zach Tucker, Ricardo Guerrero and Drew Baldwin each had first-half goals for Klamath Union. District 6 Girls NORTH VALLEY 1, MAZAMA 0 — At Merlin, Shea Miller broke a scoreless tie in the 48th minute with an unassisted goal to lead North Valley to the District 6 victory. North Valley (5-3, 1-1 Dist. 6) posted a 17-5 advantage in shots on goal, missing just wide on several of those opportunities. Non-conference Girls BLANCHET 4, GRANTS PASS 3 — At Salem, Grants Pass squandered a 3-1 lead in the game’s final 32 minutes as Blanchet rallied for the non-conference victory. Karrie Hagedorn scored two goals to lead Blanchet, including the game-winner with 5 minutes to play. Kelli Briggs scored two goals for Grants Pass and Kelli Roots had one.
