Water treatment plant back to full operation By Sam Wheeler Mail Tribune Aug 13, 2014 12:00 AM A A An electrical fault crippling the Robert A. Duff Water Treatment Plant's ozonation treatment has been fixed and the plant is fully operational, a press release from the Medford Water Commission reported this afternoon. The plant pumps and treats Rogue River water for drinking and irrigation to supplement the water commission's Big Butte Springs water source during summer months. At about 1 p.m. Tuesday, a power surge at the plant knocked out the facility's ability to apply ozonation to the drinking water supply, said Laura Hodnett, spokeswoman for the Medford Water Commission. The water was still being treated with chlorine and other bacteria-killing chemicals and was safe to drink, she said. Customers in Medford, White City, Central Point, Eagle Point, Jacksonville, Phoenix and Talent were affected by the lack of ozonation, according to the commission.
