Tornado boys extend winning streak Tuesday Jan 17, 2017 at 2:00 AM Jan 17, 2017 at 10:54 PM GRANTS PASS — Kaison Faust and Joey Hunter each scored 13 points as the sixth-ranked North Medford boys basketball team downed Grants Pass, 65-50, to extend its winning streak to nine games during Southwest Conference action at Grants Pass High on Tuesday. Brad Allen chipped in 12 points and nine rebounds and Tre Holmes 10 points and six rebounds for the Black Tornado, which led 43-39 entering the fourth quarter. North (11-4, 3-0 SWC) knocked down 18 of its 22 free-throw attempts in the final frame to help seal the victory. Oscar Banuelos was 6-for-6 at the charity stripe in the last eight minutes. "Grants Pass kept it close most of the game, but we did a good job stretching it out there in the fourth quarter," North Medford head coach Scott Plankenhorn said. Taylor Anderson led the Cavemen (3-11, 0-3) with 17 points. Eagle Point (7-4, 3-1 MWL) built a 49-39 lead in a high-scoring first half and the teams battled even after intermission in a game that featured a combined 21 3-pointers. Luke Scott chipped in nine points and five assists for the Eagles and Jack Bell pulled down seven rebounds to go with six points.
