GPD fall meet closes on high note By Mail Tribune staff Nov 04, 2019 09:51 PM A A GRANTS PASS — Jockey Chris Fackler claimed three victories while Kassie Guglielmino added to her track-leading win total Monday on the final day of the fall meet at Grants Pass Downs. Fackler captured wins in the first, sixth and 11th races saddled atop Tizastone, Brilliant Bird and Oopper Wallah. Guglielmino crossed the finish line first in the second race with Timberlake Gage before picking up her 29th victory of the season in the 10th race atop General Mach Four. Both of Guglielmino’s wins came atop horses trained by Jorge Rosales, who upped his win total to a meet-best 15. The track’s second-winningest jockey of the fall, Jake Samuels, also came away with two wins to bump his win total to 26. He was tops in the seventh race with Skeesix and rode Pistol Power to victory in the Grants Pass Mile Stakes, the eighth race. The track’s leading owner in the fall was Marjorie Avery with eight wins. Grants Pass Downs had its highest handle of the fall with $131,332, $105,954 of which came from off-track bets.
